Does your child love music? Have they ever wanted to learn how to play the drums?
Learning drums is about more than playing music. It helps kids build confidence, improve focus, and learn new skills while having fun.
At Egan Music Academy, we make learning drums simple, exciting, and rewarding for young musicians.
Every Child Learns Differently
Some children learn quickly by watching. Others need more time to practice and repeat a new skill.
That’s okay!
I’ve been teaching drums since 1996 and have taught more than 12,000 online lessons to students with different learning styles and abilities.
I also have extensive experience teaching autistic and neurodivergent students.
My goal is to help every child feel comfortable, supported, and proud of their progress.
A Clear Path for Beginners
Children learn best when they know what to practice.
Our beginner drum curriculum teaches students step by step.
Students learn:
- How to hold drumsticks correctly.
- How to read and understand music.
- Basic drum rhythms and beats.
- How to play drum fills.
- Hand coordination and technique.
- How to practice with a metronome.
- How to build skills through fun exercises.
Each lesson builds on skills students have already learned.
Learn Drums From Home
Online drum lessons make learning music convenient for busy families.
At Egan Music Academy, we offer two ways to learn.
Live Private Drum Lessons — $40 for 30 minutes
Students work directly with me through Zoom. We learn new skills, practice together, and build a strong musical foundation.
Complete Beginner Drum Course — Our self-paced course allows students to learn from home with structured video lessons and guided practice materials. Students can pause, replay, and practice lessons at their own speed. I’m a Berklee College of Music graduate, a former U.S. Army musician, and a Vic Firth Education Artist. But my favorite part of teaching is watching a child discover that they can do something they thought was difficult. Sometimes that means playing their first drumbeat. Other times, it’s reading their first piece of music or playing along with a favorite song. Every small success matters.
